I do use them in the LJ code around user names and of course for the normal way to do a link in html....

but on the DW coding side, this q and a reminded me that they are not necessary for the user name coding.

that's been my main glitch: remembering what I need to do on LJ as opposed to what works here.

i do use mac safari at home, but not always.

i don't think it's a mac thing. i think it's a quote mark thing. the way DW and LJ use them for certain things IS different.
