In case anyone is searching this comm for an answer to this question, here's what I did:
You have to find the Account Status page. The way I got there was to click my own Account Settings link and then click delete on one of the journals listed there. In my case I was clicking delete on my own personal journal because that's the only other journal I have.
On the Account Status page I used the dropdown box and "Switch" to choose the journal I had deleted. Then I changed its status to active.
The hard part for me was finding the Account Status page. Clicking "delete" on my own journal was counter-intuitive to me when what I was trying to accomplish was to "undelete" a community.
