I'm using Celerity for the site skin now, and I really like it. Light and pleasant without being glaringly white.

So as far as site skin, I'm very happy and I like DW's a lot better than LJ's rather stark mostly-white (and combined with their current Graveyard Butterflies header, double ick).

I'll do some linking and/or screencaps for you soon, because it's so hard to convey what I mean without visuals. I appreciate your response and will do my best to be helpful instead of just griping.
