Dumb Question about the Cross-poster

If I create a post on DW on my "access" filter, but cross-post it to another site (LJ), then it will effectively show up as public on the other site (and not be filtered in any way), correct?*

My confusion stems from the fact that I have allowed some users with OpenID livejournal accounts access to my journal. My understanding of OpenID is that it is a tool for cross-manuevering between sites, and that the access I give to those users is limited to the DW site, and not LJ.

*I realize I can set my entry default on LJ to a minimum security level of "Friends" and effectively limit the post to my friends list, and somewhat curb this issue. I'm just curious as to how cross-posting something to my "access" list and another site works out.

Thanks. :}

Fairly sure that's not the case: I think it just uses the LJ default, whatever you do on DW, or at least if you just use your DW default: I posted (and used the crossposter) while my DW was set to Private, and it was Public (my default) on LJ.

Having just tested it out, it seems not to be doing that now: I tried both manually setting the DW security and doing it with a journal-wide change, and the LJ posts both came out with the same security as the DW ones.

So it might have been a bug that was now fixed. Or it might relate to importing, which was what I was in the middle of when the one that *didn't* have the same security....

Haaaaang on. When I made the earlier post, I immediately edited to change the security level on DW. That'll have edited it on LJ as well, won't it?

Ignore me. I think it's working just how it's supposed to.

I just tested with DW set to Private and it came through as Private on LJ. When did you test? And did you edit it at all?

See above: I didn't realise that editing the post on DW would also edit it on LJ (*incredibly* cool feature!)....

I think that may be a bug, from what other people have said. It might be worth reporting to [personal profile] domtheknight, as that's the kind of error that makes people jumpy.

I'm fairly sure, in my case, that I was just being particularly blonde, and not realising quite how clever DW is.
