Smooth Sailing layout and syndicate widget?

I've seen the syndicate widget on other layouts but I'm not sure if it's possible to add it to the smooth sailing layout? Can anyone help me with this one?

I imported the Smooth Sailing layout from someone's guide years ago and I'm not sure where I got it.

You mean the little box that displays the links to RSS/Atom feeds?

You could hardcode them easily, or copy them from the layer code from a different layout fairly easily I'd have thought.

It's imported from LJ and using Core1, right? Find an LJ layout that uses syndication, and copy the code from there, Expressive definitely does.

Although having said that, your frontpage has a syndicate link displayed on it?

I didn't see a syndicate link on the front page. I think my main question is what part of the code do I copy the code to?

Not easily, because the widgets are all in Core2 and presumably you're using your Smooth Sailing clone with Core1. I agree with matgb that your best bet is to copy the code from an LJ layout that has syndication icons. If you need help with adding extra code to your layout, I can walk you through that.

oh boy, I think I'll have to look at the code and find the rss/atom widget. I'm kind of worried about trying to insert code because I'm completely in the dark on LJ layouts.

I probably won't have time to really figure this out until the weekend. If you're still willing to help me by then I'd really appreciate it.

One other option is to just use one of the core 2 styles and customize it... I guess I got a bit attached to Smooth Sailing after using it for so long I haven't really checked out the new options.
