Synching comments?

I'm one of those people who are cross-posting to DW and LJ with comments on DW disabled and am redirecting people to LJ to comment. I did this in the conviction that I would be able to update my DW journal with the comments from LJ as soon as I'm ready to move to DW completely.

Reading the entries at this comm, though, I'm realizing that importing comments will automatically re-import my entries, too. That wouldn't be such a huge problem, as long as I can import back to a specific date--say, all entries plus comments of the last week or so. Is this possible? Or can I only import complete journals?

Any help would be muchly appreciated.

I think it should only import stuff that wasn't imported in the original import. Um, as it were. Basically: you can't import only a part of your journal, but it shouldn't duplicate anything you've already brought over.

Thank you! Apparently, it will duplicate the cross-posted entries, but that's alright, since there are only a couple of those. :)

As of now, it is a known issue that crossposted entries will duplicate if you import them to your DW.

But since you've disabled commenting on DW, there shouldn't be a problem with the duplication since you can delete the entries that do not have comments, and keep the ones with comments intact.

But I already imported my complete journal (about 1,000 entries), including comments. I wouldn't mind having to delete 10-20 duplicate entries, but going through my whole journal and deleting 1,000+ entries would end up being a lot of work. That's why I asked whether I can only import a certain number of entries.

No, you cannot import a certain number of entries at the moment.

The importer will only pick up new entries, not repost entries it's already imported!

Unfortunately, yeah, it will duplicate that too. We don't have the importer and the crossposter talking to each other yet.

So if I delete, like, the last 10 entries in my DW journal and then import entries and comments from my LJ, I won't end up with duplicates of all my entries since 2006? Awesome!
