managing your circle

I like the new layout of the "manage your circle" page...

What do the asterisks mean? The column they are in is not labeled.

They appear to correspond to the initial state of the "Subscribe" checkbox when you first load the page.

I don't have any custom colors defined in my circle. If that was the intended feature, then it's buggy or needs to be documented better. :)

Your layout doesn't have custom colors implemented. If you switch to Transmogrified and activate the option, you'll see the default ones i.e. black userpic border and white userpic background for Transmo.

I use custom colors on my LJ friends list, so I'm familiar with the concept. It's just not obvious, unless you've already defined some custom colors in your circle, that it's what that column is for.

This is the custom colors column. They show which colors (background and foreground) you've chosen for each journal you've subscribed to. Default is black on white. You can customize the colors at http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/circle/edit#addfriends

Note that only certain layouts are able to display custom colors on your Reading page.

You're welcome. Here's how LJ describes it: # Many friends page styles also use foreground and background colors for your Friends when displaying your Friends' entries.

And you can see a Reading page with your entries highlighted in red/blue: http://900degrees.dreamwidth.org/read?s2id=85780
