Crossposting footer notes?

I've been seeing on my LJ friends list a footer note when they've crossposted from Dreamwidth and I'd love to be able to do that as well. But I can't find out how!

The kind of notes I see are:

(Cross-posted to Dreamwidth and LJ, but comments are welcome at either.)

Where in the original posts the underlined bits are actual links to specific entries. And they are in smaller font.

Is this something I can do at the same time as the original post in DW or do I have to edit the LJ entry later with the links? And is there a standard code or do I have to figure out the links each time and code them in individually?

You can set the footer text to be cross-posted in your Dreamwidth settings, here.

Thanks! I was hoping it was something as easy as that, but I kept looking on the actual posting page for something to click rather than Account Settings. I'll play around with different wordings...

Yeah, I'm surprised there isn't a link to that on the crossposter, to be honest. I only knew because I'd seen someone wondering the same thing a while back.

mm, there should be a link to "Manage accounts" on the http://www.dreamwidth.org/update page. Is it not showing up? (or is it just that it isn't obvious from the link?)

Yeah, I just found that link, but it's definitely not intuitive what that means or what settings it will access. I wouldn't have assumed that I could set my footer text by clicking on that.

*thinks* Would something along the lines of "Manage crosspost" or "Crosspost settings" be any better?

I think I may just go suggest a change to the docs team, as I've seen plenty of people miss the link to the crosspost settings.

Wow - you guys are fast! *g* Thanks for all the help. I think if it was used more widely it would also be good advertisement for everyone using Dreamwidth. Might make it more evident how many folks are actually starting to shift over.

I think "Crosspost settings" would be much clearer. Even "Manage crossposts" would be better than "Manage (external) accounts" IMO.

Oh, actually, poking around on the posting page, it appears that the Manage Accounts link next to the cross-post checkbox takes you to that settings page. But it's definitely not intuitive. Hmm mm.

You know, I've read all this but I'm still unclear on how to set it up (although I see *where* to set it up)--surely you need some sort of code to set up the bit where it posts how many comments are available at the home entry?

See the variables near the bottom, under the preview? The fourth one is the magic word for making comment #s show up. :)
