inviting OpenID users to a community

Is it possible to invite users who are using their LiveJournal OpenID to a community? With one user i found their OpenID was too long for the field on the Community Members page. With another OpenID user whose name did fit, i got an error message telling me the user didn't exist.

You apparently can't, even with the ext_# username; I tried with my own LJ's OpenID, ext_4, and got "Can't add community or feed account: [identity profile] azurelunatic.livejournal.com. I'd say hit up [site community profile] dw_suggestions.

I dunno, this sounds like an outright bug to me.

Especially given that it says "community or feed", and that's an OpenID? And OpenID users can join communities, heh?

I'm totally making the decision here to put that in the bug database to fix. We changed the system, other parts didn't get updated, and they need to be--I don't think that needs to go through Suggestions.

Nah, very probably not for suggestions, I agree with you :)
