adding somebody to my circle

I just added a friend on LiveJournal -- and I wanted to add them here, because the whole thing is crossposted and all that.

So, I added him and got an error message saying he doesn't exist.

Can I not add somebody like that? (using the Livejournal ID [user.livejournal.com]) or am I doing it wrong?

You can import your friends from lj, which will create a placeholder account for them here, but then still need to log in and activate it in order to (for instance) comment on locked posts on DW.

nods. The original import was done over a year ago. I didn't want to do it all again!

Note: if you've imported before, and you're importing from the same account, importing again will just sync and update, not reimport everything.

I've got comments turned off over there -- how will that affect what's over here? (I turned comments off *after* the initial import)

It will import any comments that were added between your last import and when you switched them off, as well as create placeholder openID accounts for any new people with access to your locked posts.

Ohhhh - question about re-import.

I imported during beta and have been crossposting ever since. Every once in a while, I customize crossposted entries on the other site.

So if syncing happens, will the customized posts lose their customization, would the DW post take on the customization or would they show up as separate posts?
