DW not crossposting to LJ?

I've noticed the last few days my DW posts are not crossposting to my LJ. I get this error in my inbox: Crosspost to faedreamer@LiveJournal failed.

Failed to crosspost entry to faedreamer@LiveJournal: Failed to connect to http://www.livejournal.com/interface/xmlrpc.

Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it? It worked beautifully up until about the beginning of this week. Thanks in advance!

It's due to the DDoS attacks on LJ. Once you get the error in your inbox, you'll need to go edit the entry that failed to crosspost, recheck the crosspost ticky box, and save the entry. That will tell DW to try again and hopefully, DW will be able to connect in round two. Until the DDoS attacks stop, there will be a much higher risk of failure in the crossposting feature.

You can't check the crosspost box, actually. You have to check the account you want to crosspost to (my dw account is set up to post to three different lj accounts, so I have to choose one of them) and then the crosspost box is automatically checked as well. You could click on "crosspost this entry" all day long and it'd never work. You have to check the box or boxes below it and it checks itself.

I'm sure LJ will, er, stop being ridiculous as soon as the DDoS attack ends, like the other times this has happened.

Isn't that just always the way? Happens to me all the time.

The entry I had been trying to crosspost since last night just went through, so here's hoping the problem's starting to ease up!

Thanks! I haven't crossposted in a really long time so I wasn't quite remembering the order of clicks correctly.

Yeah, they changed that a while back. It only took me about a month to stop trying to tick that box. [/quick learner]

I see [personal profile] jumpuphigh already answered your question, but I'll add that you might like to follow [site community profile] dw_maintenance. It's where you'll see announcements about this kind of problem and what's being done about them--so you know from the start that it's not just you. :-)
