posting comments

When I read to the end of a post and click "comment" (or whatever the OP has made her "post comment" button say), I am redirected to the top of the post and then I have to scroll down to the open comment box. It would be much much more convenient if I were immediately taken to the open comment box.

Is this an artifact of my custom layout, or a known way the DW interface works?

When I actually write my comment and click on "post the comment", I stay right with the comment, and do not get bumped back up to the top of the OP, which is what I want. So that's nice; i like that.

That's not how it works for me. I stay at the bottom of the post. Have you tried changing your layout temporarily? You could also try signing out and pretending you are going to comment as anonymous.

I noticed that, too, but only when I'm reading and commenting from my reading page. When I've expanded a cut and then click on comment, it redirects me to the top of the post.

But when I've opened the post from the subject line and read/comment from there, clicking on comment lets me stay at at the end with the opened comment form.

I just noticed it now but it does the same to me, hmm. Annoying.

Hm, yeah, the "Reply" button doesn't link to "#comments" the way the "X Comments" link does, so if you just go directly to "Reply" from the reading page, it opens the actual reply page (the "mode=reply") instead of opening the comments page and popping open the javascript reply box.

I never really noticed being at the top of the entry, but it does always annoy me that if I click the reply link, it won't show me comments that already exist.
