importing comments

Hi again,

Can you tell that LJ just messed up again? :-)

I just imported my journal, with comments. According to my profile page, I now have 27,374 comments (and I maybe had 20 before the import).

Um, where are they? They don't seem to be attached to the entries. Is this a "data is big, check back tomorrow" kind of thing, or did something go wrong? (The import page reports success.) Thanks!

As I remember, the entries come in in one batch, and the comments in another batch and somehow get matched up properly. (I think icons and other data come in another batch or so, as well.) It might just be that LJ has sent a lot of people migrating and it's taking a while. Good luck, and glad to have you here!

The Support board at the moment has several dozen reports of comments not importing, so it looks to me like there's actually a bug. No idea whether it's DW's importer, or LJ, or just the whole thing being overloaded because, as you noticed, LJ messed up again and everybody is backing up or migrating. But I'll let you know if anyone posts an answer.

So, recently we found the problem and are working on a fix as time allows. (LJ changed their output again--not malicious, just the breaks of relying on external stuff!)
