Open ID Account and LiveJournal Account
Hi! I had a question about the connection between the Open ID account used to edit community posts imported from LiveJournal and the LiveJournal account itself. Specifically, I was wondering if it's possible to continue to use that Open ID account to edit imported posts and delete the LiveJournal account the posts were imported from.
I'm a member of a community that's been imported here from LiveJournal and have periodically used my Open ID account to edit links in the old posts I made. I'm currently on the fence in regards to deleting my LiveJournal account, but I don't want to do it if it means I won't be able to edit those posts.
Than you very much!

You do have to do it while you can still log in to your LJ account though.

I believe that claiming your OpenID account with your Dreamwidth account would be a way to still allow you to edit, but I can't say for sure. I made the mistake of deleting my LJ before claiming OpenIDs was a thing, so those posts and comments are lost to me.

*assuming no-one else has grabbed it.

As to personally agreeing to the TOS, it's merely a formality. You won't (I assume) be posting any content on there, just using the account to claim OpenID posts on the DW servers, which are beyond the reach of LJ and the Russian authorities no matter what you agree to.

How they expect one to be able to consent to an agreement one cannot read is beyond me. :(
(Essentially, Russia is going to do whatever it wants with our data and that's it, is what I gather. The so-called agreement is for show.)
I did a quick search and found somebody wrote an easy work around so you can avoid personally agreeing to the TOS. (Not that it really changes anything... Maybe make you feel a little better.) It's a Chrome Extension that is able to bypass the pop-up because the code is enoforced client-side, not server-side, so it's easily deactivated in your browser. https://blog.kamens.us/2017/04/10/how-to-delete-your-livejournal-account/ As written, it gets you to the account status page so you can delete your account. It is easy enough to modify if you also need to claim your OpenID first or transfer your account.
