What happens if I buy a rename token?

I'm considering buying a rename token, but I'm not entirely sure how those work. Some questions:

1. Can a rename token be used on a community?
2. After a rename token is used, what happens to previous links to posts sent out with the old name? Will those redirect to the same posts under the new name?

You can choose to forward to the new name.

I don't think you can rename a community without it being empty of members and two tokens, but I'm double checking.
