Ridiculously nooby question: does the crossposter work yet? I'm seeing people crosspost to their LJs and DWs, but I'm not sure if they're doing it by hand or what. Also, I suspect some of them are using Semagic, which as an Ubuntu user I can't have.

The one person I know that crossposts is doing it manually. Seeing as she's kinda gung-ho about DW, I suspect the auto-crossposter isn't enabled yet.

As far as I know it won't be ready until Open Beta.

What I'm doing with Logjam is, I post to Dreamwidth, then go to Dreamwidth and make sure the entry looked okay. Then I reload the last entry into Logjam, switch the user to my LJ account, c/p some boilerplate I have stored in tomboy, add the URL of the DW entry, change the icon to match, turn comments off, and repost. It takes probably an extra 30 seconds, but it's worth it to me.

As others have said, the built-in crossposter isn't working yet, but there were some good instructions here for crossposting with Semagic. I haven't yet heard of any Mac or Linux clients that will do the same thing, but it may be worth nudging the devs of your client of choice to see if they'd add DW support.

MarsEdit for Mac OS might do this, however:

1) DW's native protocol for LJ-style posting is slightly different from LJ's from what I understand.
2) You can try crossposting via Atom but I need to see if DW's Atom Publishing Protocol endpoint is working.

I should exercise that code and a have a look in bugzilla. Probably something I could help on.

It's still in review. It's working for the most part, but still has a lot of bugs. And I'm sure that more will show up as soon as we unleash the userbase on it.

When it goes in place, a 'Crosspost this entry' button (along with a 'Manage accounts' link) will appear at the bottom of the 'Post an Entry' page. You'll need to follow the Manage accounts link to set up an external account for crossposting before you can actually crosspost, though. (At least, that's the way it works right now.)
