syndicated feed of DW account on LJ, help?

This is probably not exactly what this community is meant for.

I would like to set up a syndicated feed of my DW account on LJ, but apparently creating feeds requires having a paid account these days. Unfortunately no one I know has one. If anyone here has a paid account on LJ, would they be willing to do this for me? As far as I know, it won't have any negative consequences; you can create as many feeds as you want. If all else fails, I'll pay the $5 for two months of paid time, but I'd rather not give them any more of my money.

That's interesting. I would like to set up a feed as well. Because I don't wanna cross-post my entries (a few of my LJ friends are on DW, so I don't wanna duplicate)... I'd wanna set up a feed, so if people wanted to read/comment, they'd hafta come here...

now here's my question about feeds... now if I set up a feed on LJ, how does the security thing work? I mean if I keep my posts access only here, and someone from LJ subscribes to my feed, d they only see the public stuff? Or can they sign in with an open id and I give them access or...

I'm braindead today and wanna know how it all works.

It goes like this:

* Your friends set up their LJ OpenID up here on DW.
* When DW reroutes them to LJ to confirm their identity, they hit the "Yes; Always." button.
* You add their OpenID to your circle and whatever filters you want them on.
* When they check the feed (through whichever means), they will also see the locked entries they have access to.

Perfect. Thank you. That's how I'll explain it it over on LJ. I'm still a n00b, so I'm still trying to figure how to grant access to certain Open IDs and all that...

No problem at all :) It took me quite some time to figure it out as well.

ETA: The profile page of an OpenID looks exactly the same as that of a regular user, if I'm not mistaken, so you grant them access the same way as everyone else.

Surely this only works if they check the feed in a feedreader, not if they look at the LJ syndicated feed?

Oh god, you are right. *smaks self* I only checked in a feedreader and forgot that LJ doesn't work exactly like that.

Maybe this is something that DW will also work on in the future? I do seem to remember they're at least going to implement something that will allow you to read flocked entries from your friends on LJ on your DW reading page.

yes; that is in fact being worked on.

but that won't necessarily help people who stay on LJ, since LJ has so far showed no interest in ever taking somebody else's code and incorporating it (which, in this case, would be a major undertaking because of the access/subscribe split).

Okay, I misunderstood how one makes a feed. How do I turn my DW into a feed that my friends can see on their f-list?

And maybe I'm misunderstanding some more but if I understand this right, if I set up the DW feed, people on my flist can see my new public entries, and if they click to see those, and want to comment, they can user their DW open id, at which point they can see any access only stuff, am I correct?

if they don't sign in with openID, or you haven't given them access, then yes, they only see your public entries, since RSS feeds only contain those.

Okay, thank you for explaining that. I didn't wanna make it TOO easy for them, LOL

If they choose t stay on LJ, sure, they'll only seethe public entries.. but it takes, what, a minute tops to create a DW openID?
