back-ups
One more question, and I'll go away for a while .....
I use LJ Archive for backing up in that other place. Well, I'm here now. Is there a tool to back-up this journal? Will LJ Archive work here?
Thanks!

Then I used Tools > Sync with absolutely no problems; I've set it to update automatically when I run the program.
Data: I didn't import my LJ journal, so this was a clean journal on DW. My journal is not and never has been huge (I had about a thousand entries from 6 years of LJ, about a fifth of that in the year and a half I've been using DW). I rarely use any special characters or font encodings, Latin-extended covers nearly everything I need to type. My username doesn't have any underscores or punctuation in it. I am using WinXP on a Toshiba laptop, and I connect to the internet via domestic wireless with no proxies or firewalls.
I know some people have had real problems, particularly with very large imported journals or ones that use a mix of character sets. But it's hard to pinpoint exactly why it works for some and not others.

The list of Dreamwidth compatible clients is a good place to get stared figuring out what will work here for you.
